The European Commission's Ecodesign Directive (2005/32/EC) aims at reducing the environmental impact of energy-related products* (ErPs), including the energy consumption throughout their entire life cycle. The Directive establishes a framework for setting Ecodesign requirements (such as energy efficiency requirements) for all ErPs in the residential, tertiary and industrial sectors.

Lot 6 - Standby and Off-mode EC 1275/2008   y Revision ongoing. Consultation Forum 20 December 2017. Specific requirements for network-connected standby devices were introduced in 2013. Since January 2017, networked standby devices must not consume more than 3 to 12 Watts depending on the product.

Amendment to Lot 11 - EU 622/2012 
Lot 11 – Electric motors - EC 640/2009 Regulation for electric motors and variable speed drives (EU) 2019/1781   From July 2021, the current regulation will be repealed and replaced by Regulation on electric motors and variable speed drivers (EU) 2019/1781. Under the new rules, several induction motors that were previously not covered will be regulated, including smaller motors between 120W and 750W, larger motors between 375kW and 1000kW, and 60Hz motors, 8 poles motors and single phase motors (the latter only as of July 2023).
Lot 13 - Refrigerators EC 643/2009  Regulation for refrigerating appliances (EU) 2019/2019    From March 2021, the new ecodesign regulation for refrigerating appliances EU 2019/2019 will repeal the current regulation EC 643/2009.
Lot 14 - Pt. I - Dishwashers - EU 1016/2010 Regulation for household dishwashers EU 2019/2022   From March 2021, the new ecodesign regulation for household dishwashers EU 2019/2022 will repeal the current regulation EU 1016/2010.
Lot 14 - Pt. II - Washing Machines - EU 1015/2010 Regulation for household washing machines and washer-dryers (EU) 2019/2023   From March 2021, the new ecodesign regulation for household washing machines and washer-dryers EU 2019/2023 will repeal the current regulation EU 1015/2010.
Lot 16 - Household Tumble Driers - EU 932/2012   y Revision ongoing. A project study was launched in 2017 and finalized May 22, 2019. An updated version of the final report was uploaded June 27, 2019.
Lot 17 - Vacuum cleaners EU 666/2013   y Draft revision report available as of September 2019
Lot 18 Complex set-top boxes voluntary agreement - COM (2012) 684     Complex set-top boxes are covered by a voluntary agreement. 
Lot 18a - Simple set-top boxes EC 107/2009    y Ecodesign rules for simple set-top boxes are mandatory. However, a draft proposal of a new Voluntary Agreement was finalized on July 16, 2015.
Lot 8 - Tertiary Lighting EC 245/2009  Regulation for light sources and separate control gears (EU) 2019/2020   From September 2021, the existing rules outlined in (EC) No 244/2009, (EC) No 245/2009 and (EU) No 1194/2012 will be repealed and replaced by new requirements for light sources and separate control gears under Regulation for ecodesign requirements for light sources and separate control gears (EU) 2019/2020. With the new regulation, most halogen lamps and the traditional fluorescent tube lighting, which are common in offices, will be phased-out from September 2023 onwards.

ENTR Lot 2 - Distribution and Power Transformers - EU 2019/1783     From November 2019, Regulation (EU) 2019/1783 has replaced Regulation (EU) No 548/2014.
ENTR Lot 3 Sound and Imaging Equipment - Voluntary Agreement for Game Consoles     A voluntary agreement on game consoles was recognised by the Commission in April 2015.

The product study of Smart appliances started in 2014. Phase two of the study started 2016 and was finalized in October 2018.
