October 1, 2007 – All over the world, governments are turning out the lights, or at least planning to. “We need to turn them off for good,” says the UK Environmental Secretary. Not to worry, however: the world isn’t plunging into darkness, or if it is, it won’t be for lack of electric lighting.
September 18, 2007 – I know it’s only September, but if I don’t start thinking about holiday gifts now, I’ll find myself in the department store checkout line on December 24th with the rest of Procrastinators Anonymous. This year, the new digital picture frames caught my eye as a nice gift for my mom. What could be better than having pictures of her friends and family displayed for her, 24/7/365?
September 12, 2007 – I love gadgets, especially big, expensive ones, like computers. But I don’t love gadgets that generate energy bills so big that when I first look at them, my eyes water and my knees go weak.
Energy efficiency is the single most promising strategy for getting the global community on track to tackle the climate change crisis. Energy efficiency is the cheapest, cleanest, and most readily available energy resource.
September 5, 2007 – OK, I admit it—I would love to have a big-screen TV. I eagerly look forward to the Sunday paper sales flyers, and I eagerly monitor price declines, hoping for a special deal that I can use to persuade Mrs. Green to allow me to outfit just one more room at Casa Verde with HD video.
August 28, 2007 – Reuters reports another sign of things to come: Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is the first utility to join The Green Grid, a nonprofit consortium that seeks more energy efficiency in data centers and business computing systems, PG&E announced on Tuesday.....
