TNY285DG design smps generate low voltage then rated

Hi,

We have design smps using TNY285DG .which generate low voltage then rated specification.

smps have 03 output 3.3V/0.1A  ,24V/0.15A and 3.3V/0.25A.

3.3V/0.1A- give 2.9V no load and with 20mA load 2V ,

24V/0.15A-give 22.3V no load and with 20mA load 13V ,

3.3V/0.25A-give 1.72V no load and with 20mA load 1.2V .

Please guide us.

Actualy we want to use this smps in our street light product and product in end stage .every thing is ready accept smps.

Hello Irfan,

 

Thank you for considering using Power Integrations porducts.

 

As this is multioutput design. Can you share the schematic. I think the problem is caused by the cross regulation. You may need to add some pre-load on each output.

Hi,

Attached is the schematic of smps which are support 90-277VAC as well as 480VAC.some components need to connect when use as 480VAC.currently by pass 480VAC components using connect R10.

Hi,

Connect Pre-load resistor 1mA/5mA on each output but output are still low as below,

3.3V/0.1A- give 2.4V no load  with 5mA pre load ,

24V/0.2A-give 18.3V no load with 5mA pre load  ,

3.3V/0.25A-give 1.72V no load with 5mA pre load  

meanwhile also share the transformer details with you.

Hello Irfan,

 

Thank you for the detail information. 

How much is your output power requirement? you said in the first forum is 24V 0.15A. It seems that you tried with 24V and 0.2A.

 

The Feedback loop of LM431 seems not right. the resistor divided R30 and R55 need to be recalculated. Otherwise the default output of 3.3V will be 6.6V and 24V will be 43V. if you load it, it will reach power limit and fail to deliver power.

 

it seems that you used our PIxls tool to do the transformer design. Can you share it if possible. In this way, we can have a better understanding of your design

Hi,

We have use LMV431 regulator it is 1.24 V ref so calculation are ok as per LMV431.

Can you check you Feedback circuit of the 3.3V with LMV431 to see what is wrong. There is no obvious error in your schmatic. 

Can you first to make sure the R pin of LMV431 is 1.24V?

We need to check the voltage across C25 is 3.3V. if this is wrong, there should be some error in the feedback circuit with LMV431. Otherwise the output voltage of that winding should be 3.3V

Actualy there was wrong connection of LMV431 regulator (anode and cathode was reverse).

 

Now we face onther problem as under-

suddenly down Output voltage voltage after some time

3.3V _D-down to 2.4V

24V down to 23V and 3.3V_EM -down to 2.7V

 

After this change LMV431 regulator and resolve the problem.

Thanks for the support. Voltage reading are as below,

 

3.3V is 2.3V ,Pin 1 of LMV431 has 2.3V ,pin2 has 1.3V and Ref pin has 1.24V.

Hello Irfan,

Sorry for the late reply and i was out of office last week.

I didn't quite get your problem. I saw you already get your problem solved after change the connection of .LMV431.

how did you get the voltage down again? Did you do anything else or the voltage will drop after running for a while?
