Cannot find TDK cores with standard offtheshelf gap sizes using PC44 or PC95 ferrite material?

Posted by: treez on

Hi,
I noticed that PIXls design tool recommends PC44 or PC95 ferrite cores for a boost PFC inductor. However, due to cost reasons, we need to use a core which is available with a standard “offtheshelf” gap size. This is because we cannot afford to send cores away to get them gapped.
Do you know if TDK make ferrite cores with standard gap sizes which use PC44 or PC95 ferrite material?

Hi treez,

I believe some manufacturers can customize products based on the customer's needs. With that, I think the best thing to do is to contact TDK directly so that you may ask and give them the exact gap size that you need. Thanks.

Some ferrite core distributors offer gapping services. As an interim measure, you can always gap using a shim, though you may need a flux band to deal with the extra fringing flux, as all the core legs will have a gap rather than just the center post.
