Regarding EMI choke

Posted by: balaKUMAR1990 on

Need AC-DC 230 AC volt to 5v, 1A is the requirement, we have used LNK625DG PI IC and EE13 trnasformer to achieve the requirement and but due to PCB board constrain not possible to add the EMI choke, Please let us know what is the work around if we don't use common mode choke. Any Impact will be there if the board goes to EFT test without common mode choke?

Hello,

Although the primary function of the Common Mode Choke is to offer filtering for common mode components of current, its leakage reactance and winding resistance does offer differential filtering. These differential components will help with improved performance for EMI, surge/EFT etc.

Although removal of the choke does not automatically guarantee failure, it does increase the likelihood of one or more tests failing or having degraded margin.

Hope this helps.
