Fast charger protocols such as USB-PD/QC3.0 are dramatically reducing the charging time for a cellphone from an overnight charge to less than 30 minutes. This makes charging more convenient for the user allowing almost continual access to mobile devices.

USB-PD is set to become the new standard for charging mobile devices. The USB-PD power capability of up to 100 W will make it possible for the user to employ a single charger for cell-phone, tablet and laptop computer.
